25.09.2015. Ihor Burakovsky: “Ukrainian war with creditors continues”, IER

In an article for the New Time, Ihor Burakovsky, economist and director of the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting (IER), stressed that the main threat to the agreement on debt restructuring is the bondholders worth $ 500 million that try to block the process, considering the unfavourable conditions which this agreement entails for them.

According to Mr. Burakovsky, it is not possible to say whether this agreement will be implemented until the process has started and the first partners receive new bonds.

Commenting on the possible consequences of this agreement for Ukraine, the expert is convinced that Ukraine has a choice of restructuring or defaulting.

There are two options: either to restructure or to default – Ihor Burakovsky.
