In the latest issue of a newsletter bulletin “Information about WTO members” prepared by the Institute of Economic Research and Policy Consulting (IER) you will find information about the following.
1. EU: changes in the regulation of plastic materials and articles
In late April 2015, the European Union issued a notification amending Regulation (EC) № 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended for contact with food. The adoption of the document is expected in December 2015, its entry into force – 20 days after publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. Deadline for comments – June 28, 2015.
2. Canada: Review of the list of chemicals approved for use in cereal baby food
In mid-April 2015, Canada informed the WTO about granting permission to use calcium carbonate as a pH regulating substance in cereal baby food, which came into force on April 1, 2015.
3. The Republic of Korea: change standards on animal products
In early May 2015, the Republic of Korea (South Korea) published a notice of expected changes to standards and specifications for livestock products. The term adoption of the document and its entry into force will be determined separately. Deadline for submission of comments – 30 June 2015.
