8th Ukraine Breakfast Debate

The 8th Ukraine Breakfast Debate took place on Wednesday, 31 October 2018 from 8.30 to 10.45 a.m. on the topic of “Ukraine’s approach towards NATO: pre-electoral tool or strategic security objective?”.

Ruslan Kermach, political analyst at the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation (DIF, Kyiv), discussed the current state of the Ukraine-NATO relationship and addressed following questions: What are the recent developments within Ukraine’s approach to NATO and how does the cooperation between NATO and Ukraine look like? What do Ukrainians know and think about NATO and how did the public opinion change within recent years? Which role does a rapprochement to NATO play within the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections?

The event was organised within the framework of the project “Platform for Analytics and Intercultural Communication” (PAIC) which aims at promoting professional expertise among Ukrainian think tanks, creating synergies between German and Ukrainian think tanks and transferring knowledge about developments in Ukraine to Germany. PAIC is conducted in close cooperation with the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation and the think tanks development and research initiative think twice UA and is kindly supported by the Federal Foreign Office.
