Amendments to the Russian Constitution: challenges and threats for neighboring countries

On 12 May 2020, the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels in cooperation with the Mission of Ukraine to the EU organised a videoconference dedicated to the topic of ongoing Constitutional reform in the Russian Federation, and its impact on European and international affairs, as well as security of the neighbouring countries.
Pavlo Klimkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (2014-2019), Anna Fotyga, MEP, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland and Oleksandr Marusyak, Dr., Constitutional law expert at the Centre of Policy and Legal Reform (Ukraine) spoke at the event. Olena Carbou, Dr., Executive Director of the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels moderated the discussion.
Representatives of Permanent Representations and Missions to the EU, experts, NGO and media representatives participated in the event. They discussed the essence and purpose of amendments to the Russian Constitution. Special attention was paid to the current state of the constitutional amendment process taking into account the coronavirus pandemic, declining fuel prices and other domestic and international issues.
