On February 22, the Institute of World Policy together with Foreign Policy Association of Moldova held a discussion “Communicating Europe in a New Regional Security Context” and presented an analytical report on communicating European integration.

On the 21st of February Solidarity Fund PL in cooperation with NGOs “Internews Ukraine” and Tovarystvo Leva ran in Kyiv the final conference of the “Accurately Reflecting the Ukraine – European Union Association Agreement in Ukrainian Media” project.

Professor Volodymyr Dubovyk from the Center for International Studies of Odessa Mechnikov National University delivered a guest lecture for the class on international relations at the Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas on February 15. The focus of the lecture was on the ongoing Ukraine – Russia conflict. Prof. V. Dubovyk presented the roots of the conflict, outlined the nature of the relationship between these two countries since 1991, the methods which Moscow used to influence Ukraine and to prevent it from leaving Russia’s sphere of control. He then shared his views on the motivation behind V. Putin’s current aggression towards Ukraine.

The Center for Political and Legal Reform held from the 11th to the 14 of February 2017 in Kyiv a four-day trial monitoring training for future monitors. The event was organized within the PCU’s “Safeguarding Human Rights through Courts” project, implemented with financial support of the Canadian Government.

The Institute of World Policy jointly with the Black See Trust for Regional Cooperation organised a visit of 18 US opinion leaders to Ukraine that took place from the 8th until the 10th of February 2017.
The delegation included experts of leading think tanks and mass-media editors. The aim of the visit was to explain the guests the real situation in Ukraine, the reform implementation process, let them understand the Ukrainian position and inspire them to comment and cover events in Ukraine related to the Russia aggression from the perspective of Kyiv’s position, and not Russian propaganda bullhorns.

How effectively do Ukrainian authorities seize opportunities for non-military cooperation with the NATO? What are the new platforms the Alliance is offering Ukraine?  How to protect cyberspace from new threats and how the Alliance can the Alliance help Ukraine with this issue?

These and other issues were discussed at the international round table “Ukraine – NATO non-military cooperation as a joint response to hybrid threats” that took place on the  9th of February 2017 in Kyiv.

The event was organized by the Ukrainian Center for Independent Political Research in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Ukraine, the NATO Representation to Ukraine and the Center for Global Studies “Strategy XXI”.

Alyona Getmanchuk, a director of the Institute of World Policy and Kateryna Zarembo, a deputy director of the IWP, entered the Ukrainian-Polish Partnership Forum.

On the 31st of January Prof. Volodymyr Dubovyk from the Centre for International Studies of Odessa Mechnikov National University delivered a talk on “Ukraine between EU, US and Russia: the Quest for Security and Development” at World Affairs Council Austin.  

The International Center for Policy Studies continues to organize expert discussions and consultations in the region within the project “Modeling the implementation of the Minsk agreements and the support of strategic advisers to MinTOT, supported by the International Fund “Renaissance”.

Experts of the International Centre for Policy Studies within the project “Modeling the implementation of the Minsk agreements and the support of strategic advisers to MinTOT, supported by the International Fund “Renaissance” held a public discussion “The settlement of the conflict in Donbas: model and price” in Kramatorsk on the 2nd of February 2017.

ICPS experts noted international experience of conflict resolution, outlined four possible models of the conflict resolution in Donbas and presented the positions of Ukrainian political parties regarding Donbas conflict settlement.
