On January 25th and 26th, the Institute of World Policy is hosting the WOSCAP Methodology Workshop.
On the 1st January 2016 in Mariupol State University, the World Policy Institute in cooperation with the Democratic Initiatives Foundation organised a public debate “Ukraine’s accession to NATO: necessity, opportunity or utopia?”.
During the event, panellists discussed key aspects, pressing issues and prospects for developing relations between Ukraine and NATO.
Speakers agreed on the fact that the NATO membership would be the best way to ensure the national security of Ukraine. However, Ukraine’s membership in the NATO is impossible as of now due to several reasons, among which is the war in Ukraine and corruption.

In the framework of the “Strategy of joint changes (Forming of a strategic plan for community associations as a tool for sustainable development of joint communities under decentralization)” the working visit of representatives of the NGO “Podolsky Regional Development Agency” to Ivano-Frankivsk was hold.
On January 12, 2016 in Yavoriv during the meeting with village city and town mayors of the Yavoriv region, who only plan their future integration into a capable local communities, representatives of two NGOs: “European Dialogue” and the Local economic development agency of Yavoriv, presented their projects that they will implement during 2016 on the territory of Yavoriv. Projects are implemented by the Civil Society Institute in partnership with the East Europe Foundation and funded by the European Union.
The establishment of independent National Commission for State Regulation in Energy and Utilities (NCSREU) should demonopolize energy market in Ukraine and fight corruption in the sector.
Without approving the draft law on independent regulator establishment, the previously adopted law on gas market will not work and reform in the energy sector will be incomplete, said MPs, civic activists and experts who worked out the draft law while being at a panel discussion at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Olena Pavlenko, President of analytical center DiXi Group, explained that there is the government’s version of the draft law on regulator, expanded by experts and recommended for submission to the Parliament to vote in first reading.
On the 22 December 2015, in the framework of the Think tanks development initiative and with financial support from the International Renaissance Foundation, “European Dialogue” in cooperation with the Department of Finance of Lviv Regional State Administration and the Office of reforms in Lviv region held debate on “Budgets of the coalescent communities in Lviv area for 2016”. The debate was attended by heads and accountants of incorporated communities, heads of departments of State Administration, financial district administrations and representatives of civil society.
On the 21 December 2015 in Kyiv, OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine, NGO Telekritika and the Institute of Mass Information organized a discussion “The role of media in conflict resolution: the Ukrainian reality.”
On the 1st December in Brussels Ukrainian Think Tank Liaison Office in Brussels organized press briefing “Visa Liberalization between Ukraine and the EU: Who is For and Who Is Against”. Сhannel 112 prepared a reportage from the event (watch here from 1:58 minute)
Organization “МеdiaOsvita” organized a conference “Information society in Ukraine: achievements and priorities for reforms,” which was intended to sum up the joint programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe “Strengthening information society in Ukraine.”
Civil organization “Podillya Agency for Regional Development” has organized seminars “Need of Decenralization” in Vinnytsia.
The seminar aimed at the represenatives of the village councils, newly elected deputies of the village and town councils, town mayors. They were informed about the current state of decentralization and their need in Ukraine.
During the seminars, Oleg Levchenko, Director of “Podillya Agency for Regional Development” provided detailed information about decentralization reforn, explained its importance for Ukraine, and answered the questions of the participants.
