On 5 April 2019, the Office attended a conference “On the road to Toronto – Ukraine’s Civil Society and Information Resilience Five Years after Maidan”, organised by the Mission of Canada to the European Union (a long-term Office partner in organising the Brussels UkraineLab) and European Commission Support Group for Ukraine.
According to results of parallel vote tabulation conducted on the election day at the Presidential Election in Ukraine on March 31, 2019, by the Civil Network OPORA, Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Petro Poroshenko go to the second round. Their results are 30.1% and 15.7%, with an error of 0.7%.
In the last month of electoral campaigning, the most active candidates applied the maximum effort to mobilise and use the available resources (such as human, budget, financial, political influence in executive authorities) for pre-election campaigning.
On March 21, the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, Kyiv International Institute of Sociology and the Razumkov Centre called a press conference to announce the start of the “National Exit Poll 2019” project.
On 15 March, the International Centre for Policy Studies presented the analytical paper “Assessment of security challenges: consequences for Ukraine’s foreign policy after the elections”.
On 14 March 2019, the Razumkov Centre held an expert discussion “Increased significance of monetary policy in the CEE countries in the post-crisis period and recommendations for Ukraine”.
In the period from June 2018 to January 2019, the Civil Network OPORA’s observers recorded 1506 cases of using publicly-funded events for the purpose of indirect campaigning in favour of people’s deputies and political parties.
Misuse of administrative resources and transparency of campaign financing became two major challenges in February. This information was reported by representatives of Civil Network OPORA during a press conference in Kyiv held on December 5.
On the 25th of February 2019, the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels organised its fourth Brussels UkraineLab in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which represents civil society in the system of EU institutions.
On 21 February 2019, in Kyiv, the Centre for Global Studies “Strategy XXI” organised with the support of the Embassy of Romania in Ukraine an event “EU’s Focus on the Black Sea Region and Ukraine. Priorities of the Romanian Presidency in the EU Council”.
