Environment and climate: information and analytical review of environmental and climate policy and EU law (May-June 2021)
The Resource and Analysis Center “Society and Environment” has prepared the next issue of “Environment and climate: information and analytical review of environmental and climate policy and EU law” for May-June 2021.
Adoption of the European Climate Law, which is awaiting official publication, has become one of the most important developments in EU climate policy and law. To achieve the goals and objectives of the European Green Deal, the European Commission has adopted several communiqués, including an update of the EU New Industrial Strategy, the Zero Pollution Action Plan, a new approach to a sustainable blue economy, and a global EU approach to research and innovation.
The agenda of the EU institutions included the following issues: treatment of certain types of waste (disposable plastic products, fishing tools), zero-pollution ambition (revision of REACH and CLP regulations was initiated, high-level roundtable on the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability was held, Zero Pollution Stakeholder Platform was launched), sustainable and competitive aquaculture and sustainable fisheries in the EU, assessment of the impact of trade on biodiversity, mapping and assessment of ecosystem services, strengthening the civil protection mechanism.
