Greater synergy between Ukrainian government and civil society is needed to promote Ukraine in the EU


On 11 February 2016, the 2nd meeting of the EU-Ukraine Civil Society Platform took place in Brussels. Participants adopted a Joint Declaration and two reports on energy policy and on the rule of law, that determined the agenda of civil society for both sides for the future.

On 12 February 2016, the newly elected members from the Ukrainian side of the EU – Ukraine Civil Society Platform met with Lubov Nepop, Acting Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU, diplomats of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU and Olena Prystayko, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels. They shared with the members of the Platform their views on the best ways to present Ukrainian position by using official channels as well as the tools of “people’s diplomacy”. In their turn, members of the Platform shared their first impressions of the Platform’s meeting. They also presented their views on priorities to be raised by the Ukrainian civil society in relations with the EU institutions and the civil society of the Member States.
