Research “Necessary steps for the introduction of digital visa-free travel with the EU”
The Ukrainian Centre for European Policy presented its research “Necessary steps for the introduction of digital visa-free travel with the EU”.
The development of the Internet and digital technologies is gradually transforming our world in all spheres of everyday life and every branch of business. The European Union has long ago recognised the necessity to embark on the digital revolution and expand digital opportunities for people and businesses by using the potential of the European Single Market. The European Commission has published its detailed plans for the creation of the Digital Single Market, for implementing one of its top priorities.
Today, barriers to the Internet mean that:
- citizens do not have access to many goods and services – only 15% of people shop online in other EU countries;
- Internet companies and startups cannot take full advantage of the opportunities for growth on the Internet – only 7% of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sell their goods and services abroad;
- businesses and government agencies do not make sufficient use of digital tools.
