Russian War Against Ukraine: Energy Dimension (Status as of June 12)

DiXi Group has prepared its next alert on the energy dimension of the Russian war against Ukraine.

  • App. 644,800 consumers all over Ukraine did not have electricity supply, and 177,000 consumers remained without gas supply.
  • According to the Kramatorsk City Council, as a result of shelling on June 11, power lines in the area of Toretsk were damaged, causing Ukrenergo substations to be shut down in the region. All major cities in the free territory of the Donetsk region were left without electricity, including Kramatorsk, Slovyansk, Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, and Bakhmut.
  • Energoatom reported on the resumption of data transfer on nuclear materials control to the IAEA from the Zaporizhzhia NPP servers. The connection was lost on May 30, when the Russian occupiers cut off Vodafone’s operation in Energodar. All data for this period were stored on the secure ZNPP servers and were transferred to the IAEA after the connection was resumed.
  • Ukraine’s top officials expressed expectations of granting Ukraine the EU candidate country status, which should be legally binding, as a win-win decision.
