Russian War Against Ukraine: Energy Dimension (Status as of June 14)

DiXi Group has prepared its next alert on the energy dimension of the Russian war against Ukraine.

  • App. 655,500 consumers all over Ukraine did not have electricity supply, and 182,000 consumers remained without gas supply.
  • GTSOU restored two main pipelines in the Kharkiv region, which will strengthen the security of local gas supply. Before the repair, the supply was conducted under an alternative scheme developed by GTSOU and local DSOs.
  • According to preliminary estimates of Ukrenergo’s CEO Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, in the short term (up to a year) Ukraine can potentially reach over 800 MW electricity exports to the EU and yield revenues at equivalent to 2-3% of annual GDP growth.
  • The government set zero quotas for 2022 exports of fuel oil, certain types of coal (except coking ones) and solid fuels made of coal, as well as natural gas of Ukrainian origin. We assume the decision was made due to the need to accumulate energy resources for the 2022/2023 heating season. Zero export quotas apply only to gas produced in Ukraine and do not apply to gas in storage under “customs warehouse” mode, as well as to the imported resource.
