Russian War Against Ukraine: Energy Dimension (Status as of May 8)


DiXi Group has prepared its next alert on the energy dimension of the Russian war against Ukraine.

  • The cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk remained without electricity after an airstrike. In general, as of May 7, almost 670,000 consumers did not have access to electricity supply in Ukraine, and over 217,000 consumers did not have gas supply.
  • The Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office arrested 3 million UAH on the accounts of Rosatom Eastern Europe LLC. The investigation suspects the company’s involvement in making decisions that could threaten national security.
  • Over 40 Ukrainian environmental NGOs addressed the international institutions urging to recognise Russia as a nuclear terrorist state and impose sanctions on Rosatom.
  • The government is negotiating with the EU to provide Ukraine with “green corridors” for fuel supply through the ports of Gdansk, Gdynia, Constanța, Świnoujście, and Burgas.
