What is the state of Ukrainian civil society today – on a national and regional level?

On July 7, 2021, the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels with the support of the European Endowment for Democracy and International Renaissance Foundation, is organising an online public webinar “What is the state of Ukrainian civil society today – on a national and regional level?”.

Civil society is at the forefront of pro-democratic reforms in Ukraine, which sit at the heart of EU integration efforts. This event will reflect on this civil society work in the context of recent political developments, with a focus on both national and regional aspects. Speakers will share findings from recent polls on civil society’s views on its current role and those of the general public. The event will reflect on the gains made by civil society, despite ongoing challenges, and how the situation has changed in recent years. Speakers will reflect on conditions that make their work possible and on ongoing difficulties. They will note how these challenges have evolved and how activists have adapted. In particular, they will provide some examples of success and will make suggestions for how the EU and others can help support civil society’s reform efforts.
